The trip to the Southwest Championships was cut short after Wednesday night. After two practice sessions the track was still heavy and rough but Derrik was getting more comfortable in the car and decided one more set of practice would be enough. Near the end of the session Derrik pushed off turn 4 and got into the front straightaway wall. The car bounced and that was all she wrote. Derrik climbed from the car under his own power and walked back to the trailer. The frame is junked, but some parts will be salvaged from the crash. After Thanksgiving with family in the Phoenix area, and a trip to South Mountain to watch the quarter midget races Friday, we made an early trip home. Thanks to Cody for his help this weekend, and also to Austin, Jimmy and Amber for their help at home to get the car into the shop.
